A vacationing
Hong Kong man named Joe Wong has gone to rural Nepal where the sorceress
from a local tribe imbues him with magical powers that he must use to
confront a growing evil. That evil is the reincarnation of the devil,
a cat-like creature with superhuman strength. Great FX and lots of action
plus Chow Yun-Fat in a very early role. There's also a very erotic love
scene in the rain between Chow and the witch. Sizzling fun.
Filmmaker
Ching Siu Tung (sometimes known as Tony Ching Siu Tung) began his career
as a stunt/action director, for some of the greatest Hong Kong hits (i.e.,
THE
KILLER, HEROIC
TRIOet al). In the beginning, he found time to do some
directing on his own. This was one of his first projects. It was followed
by blockbuster hits like THE
SWORDSMAN
series, CHINESE
GHOST STORY
trilogy, SHAOLIN
SOCCER, SORCERER
AND THE WHITE SNAKE, and the Chinese/Japanese fantasy actioner
DORORO.
