Two young
girls - Martha and Nadia - each come from an abusive home. In their plight
to get away from their families, the girls take refuge in a brothel (run
from the back of a cafeteria). Martha and Nadia support one another, fall
in love, and try to protect themselves from the violence lurking in the
night. After the two girls beat a murder-rap for killing their pimp, Nadia
falls into a modeling career and becomes successful very quickly. She
continues to take care of Martha and they live together. Martha watches
as Nadia is being used by dishonest agents and corrupt magazine publishers.
Realizing that they have merely traded one type of prostitution for another,
Martha decides that she must leave Nadia. But it's not that easy.
Dennis
Iliadis' film is dark and disturbing. It is being heralded as the vanguard
of new Greek Cinema and has won many International Awards. The story is
remarkably similar to the 2001 Russian Teens-in-Peril movie LILYA
4-EVER. The theme has been a staple of cutting-edge youth prostitution
erotica including Gilbert Wolmark's LITTLE
GIRLS, Gloria Guida's RAGAZZIRA
(Young Girl), Mario Caiano's Teen-Prostitute-Giallo THE
MANIAC RESPONSIBLE and Ray Dennis Steckler's hardcore (XXX) opus
MIDNIGHT
HUSTLE (to name a few).
A Greek
film with English subtitles; widescreen format (16:9), totally uncut version
