Luigi Bazzoni also wrote the script (based on the SciFi mystery novel
by Mario Fanelli) for this bizarre story about a woman tormented by
strange dreams of astronauts on the moon. She then visits a deserted
seaside town whose inhabitants know her even though she does not know
them. Actress Florinda Bolkan gives a stunning performance in the lead
role as Alice Cespi - forcing the viewer to identify with her even though
she is obviously crazy - while making the viewer wonder if Professor
Blackmann (Klaus Kinski) and his assistants are truly using her as a
guinea pig for sadistic experiments.
Actress
Florinda Bolkan was born Florinda Soares Bulcão in Uruburetama,
Brazil. She relocated to Italy in the middle sixties after meeting producer
Marina Cicogna. Most of her films were made in that country, starting
as Lolita, the sister to Ringo Starr's Manuel in CANDY.
Many high-and-low-brow productions followed but her unforgettable performances
in cult movies guaranteed her career. These include MANAOS,
DON'T
TORTURE A DUCKLING, LAST
HOUSE ON THE BEACH, and THE
TRAP. Ms Bolkan was one of the women rumored to have a lengthy
affair with the then-president John F. Kennedy. She notoriously commented
in an interview: "John and I were so close in that short time before
his death that I believe he has watched over me ever since. He was my
first love, and my last."
