After
a teen prostitute is found brutally murdered in a sleazy boarding house,
renegade Inspector Paolo Germi (Claudio Cassinelli who also dealt with
underage whores in WHAT
HAVE THEY DONE TO YOUR DAUGHTERS) teams up with A petty-thief
pickpocket NAMED Teti to investigate. The clues take them on a winding
road that leads to a series of interlinking crimes including the foremention
underage prostitution racket, murder, blackmail, kidnapping, incest, high-level
political corruption and drugs.
This
would be Sergio Martino's 6th and final Giallo. And - despite the very
lurid storyline - much of it is decidedly breezier than his other entries
[some segments in the middle boarder on comedy]. But the characters are
likable and the banter between them, even while they're drudging around
in the muck. Mr Martino is best known for his Giallos (especially ALL
THE COLORS OF THE DARK, TORSO,
and BLADE
OF THE RIPPER) but he has directed films successfully in a variety
of genres for a half century. As of this writing, Sergio Martino is still
active in the Industry (he was born in 1938). Today, he mostly helms television
projects, directing numerous TV Movies and episodes of the popular Italian
series Carabinieri .
