Veteran
American actor John Savage plays the role of Melvin Devereux, a New Orleans
businessman who gets caught in a traffic jam caused by a funeral procession.
While waiting for cars to move again, he is approached by a strange woman
with a menacing attitude. Soon, Melvin is terrorized by a hearse chasing
him. A series of unusual events begin to convince Melvin that he may already
be dead.
After
a decade of hard times, Lucio Fulci was offered the opportunity to direct
the sequel to DAWN
OF THE DEAD called FLESH
EATING ZOMBIES ("Zombie" in America) in 1979. That film
changed his life, taking him on a lucrative road to success which included
a very impressive string of boxoffice hits. In 1992, he went to New Orleans
to shoot this melancholy horror film. It would be his last motion picture.
During this time, in his personal life, Lucio Fulci had been suffering
with diabetes. On March 13 1996, he went to bed without taking his insulin.
Some say this was suicide; others, an accident. But sadly, Mr Fulci was
dead at age 68.
