In 1971, Swedish starlet
Christina Linberg went to Japan to promote the release of her controversial
film EXPOSED.
Toei Studios convinced her to stick around and star in a couple of their
own pink films. The result of this rather unusual collaboration was SEX
AND FURY (Norifumi Suzuki's well-publicized sex actioner) and
STAR NO JOO: NIPPON SEX RYOKO, a rape-n-torture film that never got distributed
outside Japan. This movie - perversely strong by Western standards - is
a remarkably good example of the 'Nikkatsu' SM brand from director Sadao
Nakajima who later would deliver some exceptionally good cult films (e.g., ROBOKILL
BENEATH DISC CLUB LAYLA).
Christina arrives
at the Tokyo airport where she hails a taxi. Of course, she has no idea
that her driver is a sexual unbalanced introvert who has been waiting
for such an opportunity to snatch a beautiful woman and take her home.
She is drugged. And then awakens to a torture hell of bondage and sexual
abuse.
This
film has been known under an array of titles including JOURNEY TO JAPAN,
KYOTO CONNECTION, TRAVELS IN JAPAN, PORN STAR IN JAPAN, and INTERNATIONAL
STAR IN TORTURE HELL.
