When
a couple is stranded on an island infested with giant spiders, their
parents hire an elite mercenary squad to save them. A young woman, Jiang
Yifei, and rich boyfriend Du Chen had gone to the deserted island for
a romantic interlude. But they are soon attacked by giant spiders. The
two fight desperately to survive the rampaging creatures as they hope
to be rescued.
Here
is another in the bulging Chinese monster genre, but this one benefits
from a cast of competent, recognizable stars. Lead Wang Yichun brings
charm from his recent decade of television dramas. Here he is joined
by Cui Ying Er from GHOST
STORY OF THE BRIDE WITH PAINTED SKIN and Ren Qing An, best known
to genre fans for HAUNTED
CINEMA. Female director Chiu-Yee Yip (aka Lily Yip) has helmed
three successful TV mini-series over the past two decades including
Tai Chi Master in 2003.
