Three college girls locate the tomb of Elizabeth Bathroy [the legendary
witch executed several hundred years previously for murdering young woman
and bathing in their blood]. They revive her spirit. Meanwhile, nearby,
graverobbers invade the burial ground of notorious werewolf Walemar Daninsky.
Once these robbers remove the silver cross embedded in Daninsky's heart,
the wolfman is back to terrorizing the countryside, again under the control
of his mistress Bathroy. But, even though Waldemar Daninsky was Elizabeth's
lieutenant in their previous lives, he becomes hellbent on destroying
her when she sets sites on the college girls.
While
obviously similar to Naschy's previous Hombre Lobo movies (especially
CURSE
OF THE DEVIL and THE
WEREWOLF VS THE VAMPIRE WOMEN), he opted to direct this one himself
[under his real name Jacinto Molina], proving to be a surprisingly competent
filmmaker, arguably the best to ever direct a Daninsky movie. The sets
are great. The acting is good. The FX are better than usual. And in typical
Naschy fashion, he includes much more gratuitous nudity and gore than
other films in this genre. The next Hombre Lobo entry will be BEAST
AND THE MAGIC SWORD followed by LYCANTHROPY.
