director: Lo Wei

Actor
and sometimes-director Lo Wei (he made 60+ movies including Bruce Lee's
BIG
BOSS and FIST
OF FURY) helms this female James Bond caper with chic,
pop-art glee. The story deals with Interpol Agent 009 Ai Si (played by
Lily Ho) on the trail of the relentless Bomb Gang, extorting money by
exploding stores and airplanes. The boss of the bad guys is Xiang Xiang
- nicknamed 'the Specialist' (Shen Yi) - who has gone undercover by taking
over a nightclub run by her twin sister. But her true residence is a delightfully
excessive underground lair designed in a candy-colored SPECTRE motif [see
pic, above left]. Agent 009's partner Deng Lei gets captured by Xiang.
But when she's unsuccessful at seducing him, Deng is thrown into a prison
cell. Fortunately, Ai Si locates the headquarters and everything escalates
into a very Bond-esque climax.
Lily
Ho, born in 1947, began acting in her home country of Taiwan in the mid
'60s, but she had relocated to Hong Kong by 1967. After numerous films
in a relatively short time [including the masterpiece WATER
MARGIN(1972)], Miss Ho retired from acting
in 1975.

Kong film, with Chinese and English subtitles; widescreen format, uncut
