Here's
something of a rarity in Indonesian films, FIGHTING
DIVAS! Selma (played by Atiqah Hasiholan) is the Captain of
an undercover police unit. One of her detectives, Bobby, constantly hits
on her but she's smart enough to know fraternization isn't a good idea.
Instead, she finds herself attracted to the mysteriously charismatic Kendra
(Tora Sudiro). He pretends to be a social worker but - in reality - Kendra
is a top boss in his family's Mafia gang. As the two begin dating seriously,
she tells him that she's a cop but Kendra doesn't reveal his secret. Meanwhile,
humiliated Officer Bobby discovers Kendra's true identity and arranges
a trap with a competing gang run by dragon-lady Dewi (Indah Kallalo).
All that is melodramatic windowdressing. The real draw here are the kick-ass
diva fights, reminiscent of the Hong Kong Angel heyday.
The girl-action is handled well by the two leads, along with swordweilding
Anindhika. The young woman who plays Captain Selma, Atiqah Hasiholan,
has become a major actress probably best known for THE
FORBIDDEN DOOR.
Her rival here, mob boss Dewi, is Indah Kalalo, recognizable for the leading
role in VIRGIN
HONEYMOON BLOOD.
