Here
is an embarrassingly awful film [while it's also begrudgingly endearing],
complete with homophobic jokes and talking mules. It is notoriously
know as one of the worst movies of all time. Two prospecting friends,
Gin and Whiskey Joe discover gold when they flop into a river during
an argument. Soon, an outlaw named Fatty Bart attempts to poach their
strike by harassing two overtly gay cowboys who inadvertently get involved.
The 'action' eventually is diverted to a convent in the wilderness where
nuns resort to violence to protect themselves.
Not
sure to who to blame for this clumsy film. Usually the director is responsible
for a mess like this. True, it was the debut project for director Marcello
Zeani but he proved that he could make a competent movie a few months
later with the Femi Benussi/Enzo Pulcrano gangster actioner WITH
NAKED FISTS. Perhaps the writers were to blame? True, both Marcello
Cascape and Lidia Puglia seemed to be out of their comfort zone, but
they are otherwise competent. Marcello had previously worked as assistant
director to Sergio Bergonzelli (OUR
LADY OF LUST) and Lidia was a prolific makeup artist who worked
extensively with Mario Bava and Dario Argento.
