Back several years ago, there was a nonsense 'craze' that involved putting
the words "in bed" at the end of any fortune from a fortune
cookie [don't know if that's still popular]. But that's sort the concept
behind a series of Danish Sex Comedies known as Sengekanten Films (On
the Bed films). The idea was to take almost any plot and add a helping
of sex. This resulted in MazurkaPå Sengekanten
[School Days on the Bed],Tandlæge På Sengekanten
[Dentist on the Bed], Rektor På Sengekanten [Headmaster
on the Bed], Sømænd På Sengekanten [Sailors
on the Bed] (etc) plus this movie Motorvej På
Sengekanten [Highway on the Bed].
Here
is a breezy comedy about a young official from the Department of Roads
and Traffic, given the task of convincing the women in a local village
to agree to a new highway passing through the middle of their sleepy community.
His boss suggests that the easiest way to accomplish the goal by seducing
the women and taking them to bed. However, the females use sex to turn
the tables on him.
Danish
starlet Birte Tove made numerous motion pictures in the early '70s (including
other Sengekanten films and the International sex hit SWEDISH
FLY GIRLS) before getting whisked away to Hong Kong for a contract
with Shaw Bros Studios, resulting in BAMBOO
HOUSE OF DOLLS andMINI-SKIRT
GANG, et al. Ms Tove retired from show business in 1997
after a successful 5 year Danish TV series The Kingdom.
She would pass away from multiple sclerosis in February 2016.
