original Mexican/Uruguay Spanish title EL HABITANTE [The
Inhabitant]
director: Guillermo Amoedo
starring: Maria Evoli · Vanesa Restrepo · Carla Adell
· Flavio Medina · Natasha Cubria · Gabriela De
La Garza
Three
sisters decide to break-in and rob a well-known [but corrupt] politician
after learning that he has - for some unknown reason - fired most of his
staff and remains virtually unprotected in his home today. The girls are
desperate to get large sums of cash to help their sick mother. A caretaker
who used to work for the senator provides keys and access numbers to a
safe which supposedly contains a piles of bribe money. But instead of
getting involved in a quick smash-and-grab caper, the sisters discover
a disturbing scene in the basement: the politician's abused daughter Tamara,
bound and gagged in a wheelchair. Despite desperate warnings from the
parents, the sisters are determined to help the girl by releasing her.
However, they soon discover that Tamara is possessed by the devil and
a Vatican cardinal is expected to arrive any moment for an exorcism.
This
innovative clash-of-genres (mixture of Home Invasion with Exorcist)
comes from director Giullermo Amoedo. He learned his craft as assistant
director and scripter to Eli Roth (AFTERMATH,
GREEN
INFERNO, et al). This is his first major movie in the director
chair [after numerous short films].
