British Filmmaker
Peter Collinson
was generally considered one of the brightest directors in the cult cinema
arena. He burst on the scene with the shocking home-invasion film PENTHOUSE
in 1967, made a spaghetti western MAN
CALLED NOON (1973) before tackling this highly controversial thriller
- based on David Osborn's "Open Season" book - in 1974. Mr Collinson
died from automobile accident at age 44 in 1980.
Three former college buddies are off on their annual hunting trip to the
Canadian wilderness. Enroute, they stop long enough to kidnap a young
woman and her lover. An orgy of sex and sadism explodes in the lone cabin,
hidden away on the idyllic (but hopelessly remote) lake. The reality:
every year Ken, Artie and Greg kidnap people, brutalize them, then turn
them loose to hunt them like animals. But this year something different
is about to happen: the father of one of their earlier victims is plotting
a vicious revenge against the three hunters.
