Chinese title MAI SAT SUM LAM

starring: Vicky Cheng Hsiao-Hsuan · Roy Lui · Jacqueline Peng
Actress-turned-director
Crystal Kwok chooses a highly erotic tale for her debut feature. Produced
outside the conventional entertainment system - during a period when
the HK studios were steering clear of controversial material in the
wake of the Chinese takeover - this film centers on Alexi, a teacher
who serves as the English tutor to Michelle, the new mistress of wealthy
businessman Henry. Initially, Alexi despises the overtly brazen sexual
relationship, believing it is based entirely on money and - as such
- is demeaning to women. Gradually a friendship forms between Alexi
and Henry. Soon, she is drawn into their erotic world and begins to
understand the intimate relationship between sex and power. Alexi falls
under henry's allure and, after being seduced, she takes Michelle's
place as the mistress with torrid yet disastrous results.
Crystal
Kwok was born in San Francisco in 1966 where she spent her first 20
years. While in college, she won a beauty contest with a 'Trip to Hong
Kong' as first prize. Shortly after her arrival in HK, Golden Harvest
signed Crystal to a contract and cast her as Jackie Chan's assistant
in Dragons Forever. Crystal was mostly eye-candy for a number
of popular films, including POLICE
STORY 2, EXPLOSIVE
CITY, DOCTOR
VAMPIRE. But nothing in her 20 year career gave any indication
that an erotic scorcher like THE MISTRESS was
brewing under the surface.
A Hong
Kong film with English subtitles; widescreen format, totally uncut version
