REPULSION (1965) Roman Polanski | Catherine Deneuve
REPULSION (1965) Roman Polanski | Catherine Deneuve

The Award Winning Roman Polanski Cult Film!

director: Roman Polanski
starring: Catherine Deneuve Ian Hendry John Fraser Yvonne Furneaux Patrick Wymark

This is a great example of how to make a truly scary movie: to portray fear in a way that allows the audience to relate. It's clear from the beginning of the film, that Carol [played by beautiful, young Catherine Deneuve] is not 'normal.' When her sister Helen decides to take a weekend vacation with boyfriend Michael, she leaves Carol alone in their shared apartment. As the night sets in, Carol becomes scared (this girl really shouldn't be left alone) and starts imaging things, from footsteps to huge cracks in the wall. Carol begins a descent into madness. Her life is a swirl of hallucinations and further mental deterioration that soon leads to multiple brutal murders.
