A
military plane carrying a nuclear load explodes midair after being hit
by mysterious electronic rays. Secret agents are ordered to investigate
and they discover a villain bent on world domination with more than a
striking similarity to James Bond's Dr No. The main star is matinee
idol Paul Chung who appeared in 150+ films from 1959 until his death in
2000. But the movie's major draw was starlet Diana Chang, a former Miss
Hong Kong winner and generally considered the most beautiful Chinese woman
of the Sixties.
This
would be the swan song for Japanese director Takumi Furukawa. He retired
from filmmaking after this Chinese project. Mr Furukawa had been a relatively
prolific filmmaker for a decade in Japan (20+ movies in 10 years) but
after a series of sparkless crime films in the mid '60s, he decided to
take his craft to Hong Kong. After three HK projects, Takumi decided enough
was enough. However, he would live to the grand age of 101, dying in Tokyo
October 2018.
A
