original Argentinean title: CRONICAS DEL CUERVO
[Chronicles of the Raven]
also known as JENNIFER'S SHADOW and DEVORADOR DE SUENOS
[Devourer Of Dreams]
director: Daniel De La Vega and Pablo Pares
starring: Faye Dunaway · Gina Philips · Dulio Marzio ·
Nicolas Pauls · Hilda Bernard
Young
Jennifer Cassi travels to South America to claim the inheritance of
her recently deceased twin sister. But Jennifer must soon contend with
her eccentric grandmother who has damned the family with an ancient
blood curse. Once she has situated herself in Buenos Aires - at the
foreboding house she has inherited - Jennifer begins a series of sinister
'raven' dreams whenever she falls asleep.
This
is the remarkable debut film from cult director Daniel De La Vega, assisted
by Pablo Pares, a young Argentinean filmmaker who had found International
success with his PLAGA
ZOMBIES. Daniel De La Vega has helmed an impressive array of
extraordinary motion pictures (including WHITE
COFFIN, BLOOD
BROTHERS and NECROPHOBIA),
and he is hailed as "this generation's horror master."
Iconic,
Oscar-winner Faye Dunaway is quite good as grandmother Mary Ellen Cassi,
a role that demands a complex performance comprising both light and
sinister. But the real star here is Gina Philips, best known for the
Jeepers Creepers franchise and the S&M
thriller CHAINED.
She brings the necessary vulnerability to Jennifer's character without
ever appearing weak.
