Six
students visit an old dormitory after a friend mysteriously disappears.
They are terrorized by a former med student who claims to have been
betrayed by a friend (someone who stole his research and became wildly
successful). Unable to accept the betrayed, this psycho started conducting
weird research - mostly sewing people together because 'somebody attached
can't betray.' The new students - now in jeopardy - must find a way
to survive the night.
Regardless
of the promotion for this debut film from Jie Yuan [note the cover art
which seems to insist that it's a ghost story] there are no spirits
involved. Currently, Beijing government restrictions do no allow 'any
supernatural themes to be portrayed in any of the arts unless inspired
by traditional Chinese folklore.' Yet, occasionally foreign films from
the West do incorporate ghostly plots. Case in point, the American-made
movie, UNDER
THE BED became a surprise hit in Asia and inspired this unofficial
sequel.
