(894) IF DON JUAN WERE A WOMAN (1973) Brigitte Bardot Final film

A Rarity that Is Brigitte Bardot's final Feature Film

original title: OU SI DON JUAN ETAIT UNE FEMME [If Don Juan Were A Woman]
also known as MS DON JUAN and DON JUAN 1973

director: Roger Vadim
starring Brigitte Bardot ˇ Jane Birkin ˇ Maurice Ronet ˇ Mathieu Carriere ˇ Robert Hossein

Jeanne, a young woman living in Paris, believes she is the reincarnation of Don Juan. She visits a priest to tell him she has killed a man. He comes to her elegant flat - her father had died leaving her wealthy - and she tells the priest stories about seduced men. She describes herself as a spider, telling the priest that 'sex is easy' (after seducing him), but destruction takes preparation. Jeanne then gets involved - sexually - with her best friend Léporella.
This was the final feature film for Brigitte Bardot, interestingly directed by Roger Vadim who also made her breakout movie in 1956 (...And God Created Woman). It features the erotic sensuality that made her an International star, plus - for the first time - a major lesbian sequence (with Jane Birkin who would go on to star in Serge Gainsbourg's JE T'AIME a few years later).

A French film with English subtitles; widescreen format, fully uncut version (93 minutes),
