Detective Tian Yuan comes from Zhongzhou providence in search for Li Yuanfu, a deadly killer known as the Black Swordsman. The detective, looking for shelter, goes to the remote [haunted] Shiyuan Hostel run by the mysterious Li Ying. It becomes obvious that the rumors about the place are quite true. The hotel does appear to be haunted, possibly by ghosts from an ancient brothel. As night falls, Tian Yuan encounters a beautiful ghost named Mei Ying which leads to the discovery of a body buried in the courtyard. Further investigation unearths a sinister conspiracy involving the hostel manager, Li Ying.

This is one of preciously few films produced in mainland China before the sovereignty of Hong Kong in July 1997 (which resulted in the industry flourishing as the HK studios moved to Beijing). Director had a relatively short career, mostly with Guangxi Film Studios, where he helmed six films between 1986-1993.

A Chinese film (Mandarin) with English subtitles; widescreen format, fully uncut version (86 min.), DVD encoded for ALL REGION NTSC, playable on any American machine. Extras include selected trailers.
