Three
young, aspiring actresses are hired to help a documentarian film an
exorcism at the house of a young girl and her mother. Cameras are set
up everywhere as the supernatural events start to unfold. A variety
of monks are brought in for exorcisms but the demonic possession only
gets worse as everyone is drawn into an increasingly dangerous nightmare
of of horror.
Of
the actresses, Mayuko Iwasa is probably the most recognizable due to
her many film and TV roles. She is best known as the cyborg Mylene in
009-1:
THE END OF THE BEGINNING. Her co-star here, Yu Abiru, also found
notoriety with the controversial S&M flick SNAKES
AND EARRINGS (2008).
Director
Koji Shiraishi is considered Japan's foremost horror director, responsible
for 25+ films in slightly over 10 years, including JU-REI
(his first in 2004) as well as the recent SADAKO
VS KAYAKO (Ring vs Juon). One of his earliest projects was a
joint production with Hideshi Hino, creator of theGUINEA
PIG franchise, a supernatural gore film called DEAD
GIRL WALKING. Most of Koji Shiraishi films deal with extreme
violence in the ghost arena. An exception to this formula is his bleak,
excessive gore venture called GROTESQUE
(2010).
