Alfonso Brescia's Attempt at Star Wars

original Italian title SETTE UOMINI D'ORO NELLO SPAZIO (Seven Golden Men in Space)
also known as STAR ODYSSEY

director: Alfonso Brescia (as Al Bradley)
starring: Yanti Somer · Gianni Garko · Malisa Longo · Chris Avran · Ennio Balbo · Roberto Dell'Acqua

A rebel civilization in a far-off galaxy embark on a mission to capture and exploit the of the population in planet Earth. The starship leader assembles a massive army of robots and after discovering how to penetrate the Earth's protective safety shield, the battle begins. Convinced that the current defense will not curtail the aliens, the authorities of Earth recruit a team of experts to develop a new plan of attack.

This is a Star Wars influenced production from Alfonso Brescia (best known for BATTLE OF AMAZONS and MURDER IN A BLUE LIGHT). His attempt - with the odd title - was to tie this film to the popular Seven Gold Men spy-series just as he had done by linking his BEAST IN SPACE to Walerian Borowczyk's BEAST the year previous. Alfonso Brescia directed 50+ movies between 1964-1994 [usually under the Al Bradley pseudonym]. His breakout film, in early 1972, was NUDE GIRL FOUND DEAD IN THE PARK. Mr Brescia died from heart failure at age 71 in June of 2001.
