Original Italian Title TESEO CONTRO IL MINOTAVRO (Teseo Against
the Minatour)
director: Silvio Amadio
starring: Bob Mathias · Rosanna Schiaffino · Alberto Lupo
· Rik Battaglia · Susanne Loret · Nerio Bernardi
In ancient Crete,
a monster called the Minotaur (half bull, half man) is sedated with constant
virgin sacrifices from the evil ruler King Minos. A Greek prince named
Teseo is determined to help the oppressed community, kill the monster
and stop the sacrifices.
Although he appeared
in numerous American television shows, here
is USA Olympic Gold Medal winner Bob Mathias in his only starring role
for a feature film. In the late '60s, he ran for congress and became a
member of the US House of Representatives from California for three terms,
3 January 1967 - 3 January 1975. He then became the Deputy Director of
the Selective Service board in 1976. Mr Mathias died from throat cancer
at age 75 in September 2006.
After this debut feature,
filmmaker Silvio Amadio took his projects into a more perverse direction.
He is best known for two Rosalba Neri AMUCK!
and A
SMILE BEFORE DEATH. In 1974, Amadio helmed THE
MINOR and - as a result - he became obsessed with actress Gloria
Guido. He would direct her next five films before they split their ways.
Mr Amadio died from a heart attack in August 1995 at age 68.
