This one is
based on the true, horrifying experience of a teenage girl named Juliane
Koepcke She was the daughter of two German etymologists who found herself
forced to endure the deadly Amazon on her own. She is the only survivor
after her airplane explodes and disintegrates over the Amazon jungle.
She struggles through the hostile rainforest, fights crocodiles and poisonous
snakes, and then becomes infected with Bot flies [Dermatobia Hominis].
The images of Juliane squeezing the larvae out of the pus-filled wounds
will live with the audience forever. She is eventually rescued by a group
of local woodcutters after her eleven day ordeal.
Director Giuseppe
