PHANTOM OF DEATH and OFF BALANCE ]

director: Ruggero Deodato
starring: Michael York · Edwige Fenech · Donald Pleasence · Mapi Galan · Fabio Sartor · Antonella Ponziani

Here's an Italian thriller from master filmmaker Ruggero Deodato telling the story of Robert Dominici, a successful classical pianist, whose life turns 'off balance' after the doctors diagnose a lethal age-related disease which is causing him to grow old at an accelerated rate. Robert only has a few months to live, but - even worse - someone is beginning to murder those close to him. Inspector Datti enters the case but is soon baffled by conflicting clues.

A significant cast adds luster to Ruggero Deodato's film (it would be Edwige Fenech's last theatrical performance). Made shortly after CUT AND RUN and CAMPING DEL TERROR, it is the director's only excursion into the Giallo. Of course, he is best known for the seminal masterpiece CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST. One of the co-stars here, Mapi Galan (Mary Galan) also made Bruno Mattei's SCALPS earlier the same year and was a regular for the VALENTINA television series in 1990.
