Based
on a sinister novel by Alberto Mora, here is the story of a young girl
named Claudia who dangerously flirts with two men without considering
the ramifications. She is also having an affair with stepmother Greta
who controls the inheritance money from her dead father. Hedonism is the
theme and a certain nastiness soon creeps in, changing the texture from
an ultra-cool '60s romp to a sordid Italian thriller.
Director
Damiani handles his exceptional cast well. The chemistry between Jean
Sorel and Catherine Spaak crackles. But it's Florinda Bolkan in her debut
role (as the promiscuous stepmother) who steals the show. Damiani helmed
45+ films before retiring in 2001. He's probably best known for the Spaghetti
Western QUE
SABE (aka Bullet for the General), Mr Damiani died a age
90 in March 2013..
