Based
on characters created by animation wizard Guido Crepax, here is the complete
13 episode, groundbreaking Italian erotic/thriller TV series which originally
aired uncensored on Italia 1 (1989-90). Interestingly, entire series
was shot in English with a soundtrack that highlighted ultra-hip music
from that period [Human League, UB40, Art of Noise, et al]. The
episodes follow a liberated Milanese photographer, Valentina Rosselli,
and her brushes with horror and the supernatural. She is joined by her
boyfriend, Philip Rembrant, an antiquarian author with whom she shares
a nonrestrictive relationship. Director Gianfranco Gagni - who obviously
harbors a love for the genre - was chosen after he delivered SPIDER'S
LABYRINTH in 1988.

American-born
Demetra Hampton plays Valentina. Even though Guido Crepax was unhappy
over the choice [he wanted an Italian to play the role], she was a dead-ringer
for the character. Demetra had left Philadelphia for Rome in 1988 after
winning a competition sponsored by an Italian production company. She
landed the starring role the erotic/spy TV series as her debut project.
Miss Hampton went on to make the controversial KREOLA
in 1993 and the Jurasic Park parody CHICKEN
PARK a year later.
