Fernando
Di Leo Directs Poignant 'Lolita' Erotic Scorcher

Original
Euro Title: La Seduzione (The Seduction)
director: Fernando Di Leo
starring: Lisa Gastoni · Marice Ronet · Jenny Tamburi
· Pino Caruso · Graziella Galvani · Barbara Marzano

After
15 years, Giuseppe returns to his hometown in Sicily after successfully
working as a journalist in Paris. He promptly rekindles a love affair
with ex-girlfiend Caterina, now a widow with a teenage daughter named
Graziella. Before long, Giuseppe begins to notice Graziella's coy flirtations
and soon finds himself seducing the child. Of course, that is the begin
of disaster for everyone involved.
The
film is beautifully photographed by Di Leo's usual cinematographer Franco
Villa and is extremely well-acted by the three main cast members (the
late Marice Ronet especially manages to induce empathy for a character
who really deserves none). But the real proficiency lies in Fernando
Di Leo's virtuosity, his flare for both artistry and exploitation within
the Lolita story. Mr Di Leo began his career as a scriptwriter
for many high profile Spaghetti Westerns (including
FISTFUL OF DOLLARS, FOR
A FEW DOLLARS MORE, RETURN
OF RINGO, JOHNNY
YUMA, et al), but interestingly, once he got the opportunity
to direct, he jumped into Crime movies (i.e., SHOOT
FIRST DIE LATER) and the occasional horror film (SLAUGHTER
HOTEL: Beast Kills in Cold Blood). Fernando officially retired
in 1985 after the release of his film KILLER VS KILLERS. He died from
a stroke in December 2003 at age 71.
