Brown stars as Major Murphy Black, leader of an elite mercenary reconnaissance
squad known as BAM [Big Ass Motherfuckers]. He and his gang are hired
to investigate and stop guerrilla activity in the Venezuelan jungles.
Almost immediately, they rescue a girl named Virgin from an attempted
rape by brutal mountain rebels and then they stumble upon a pile of
mutilated human bodies. Before long, the BAM squad becomes the prey
for a deadly, indestructible robot that seems to control the jungle.
This
is a rare
Bruno Mattei film from his Action/Adventure period (COP
GAME, STRIKE
FORCE I & II, et al) that liberally mixes The
Predator with RoboCop. Mattei's cockeyed vision of the world
and a strong cast make this excursion a genre thrillride for cult-movie
fans.
Actress
Catherine Hickland is probably better known for her American TV roles,
especially longrunning stints with soap operas [she played Tess Wilder
Houston on Loving (1992-95) and Lindsay Rappaport on One Life
to Live (1998-12)]. Here's a particularly odd fact about Ms Hickland:
She was married to David Hasselhoff (1984-89) who played a character
on TV's Knight Rider named Michael Knight. After her divorce,
she married an actor named Michael Knight (1992-06). Today Caterine
Hickland as retired from acting. In 2013, she opened a hypnosis training
center in Las Vegas to teach self and stage hypnosis.
