Laura Gemser is the Divine One, the leader of a sexually active camp of
hippies. They preach uncomplicated free love but the cult is really a
front for a weird prostitution racket under the guise of religious freedom.
Things are shaken up when the daughter of a powerful US senator is inducted
into the Love Camp. The story was certainly inspired by the Jim Jones
fiasco, but Ms Gemser makes it her own.
This film was the bainchild of Christian Anders. He
acted as producer, director and editor, wrote both the story and the music,
while co-starring with Miss Gemser. Mr Anders was a prominent German pop
singer in the '70s/early '80s. Shortly after the release of this film,
Christian Anders went to India where he was converted to Buddhism. He
returned to Germany in the late '80s as a prophet, under the new name
Lanoo. By the nineties he had dropped from the spotlight, appearing a
few times on the TV variety show Zimmer Frei in the early 2000s.
