Despite
the rather innocuous title and the inclusion of name actors, this is not
a typical motion picture (not even by the more permissive standards
of '70s Italian cinema). It remains Giuliana Petrelli's only excursion
into helming a production (he was a supporting character-actor in TV and
Italian crime movies before totally disappearing from the industry with
the release of this film).
The movie
opens as Arturo rapes and murders a young woman on a train (with a scene
missing from some other prints). Later he rents a room from an elderly,
wheelchair-bound voyeur named Ivano and his much younger wife, Olga. Ivano
is a writer and he gets inspiration from watching people. To that end,
he has concocted a periscope-ish device in the wall and - along with Olga
- he secretly spies on Arturo. The experience (at least for the audience)
is decidedly homoerotic. The first thing Ivano sees, for instance, is
a totally nude Arturo doing push-ups, his penis and ball-sack smacking
against the floor. A bit later, Ivano watches as Arturo is forcibly raped
by a muscular black man he befriended at a local disco. Both Ivano and
his wife are aroused by the show, and she masturbates him as they
watch. Under the guise of needing more information, Ivano sends Olga to
seduce the young man. This does not lead to a blissful conclusion. For
those who don't think this plot is sleazy enough, there's also a side
story involving Ottavio the chauffeur, a man fixated on Olga who collects
her pubic hair from the tub-drain and uses it as a mustache. He also seduces
a naive teenage into oral sex.
