HK Cat III Mayhem from director of BEAUTY
EVIL ROSE

Original
Chinese title: MO NEUI 18
director: Wah Chun Lam
starring: Mark Chen · Huang Kun-Hsuan · Fong Ng · Yukari Oshima

Demons
escape from hell on a mission to devour the essence of 49 individuals
of extreme masculinity or femininity.
It's not clear what exactly 'essence' is, but probably - for the sake
of discussion - the soul. Once they reach their goal, these two demons
plan on returning to hell as overlords. One of them, called '18' is better
at seduction than her partner, causing some trouble between the two.
As typical
in a Wah Chun Lam film, there is a cockeyed turbulence to the proceedings.
Seemingly at whim, he adds side plots that quickly dissipates only to
replaced by another. Such a throwaway thread involves a Spirit Doctor
played by popular kung fu diva Yukari * Oshima. Like BEAUTY
EVIL ROSE (his previous movie), the only real constant here is
the gratuitous nudity. As a supplement to the main plot, there's a nurse
name May who joins Philip the cop to pursue the demons. These two characters
- obviously the heroes - ultimately have the power to defeat the marauding
bad guys because of the unique date of birth.
After
BEAUTY
EVIL ROSE and this film, Wah Chun Lam decided to quit bucking the
system [unfortunately for fans of extreme CAT III mayhem] and join it.
He quit directing and concentrated on cinematography, becoming an award-winning
cameraman still active in the industry today.
