this is what CANDY
should have been. It more closely follows the exploits suggested by Terry
Southern's infamous book. Beautiful blonde - and slightly dimwitted -
Vicky (played by luscious Ingrid Steeger) hooks up with rock star Rolf.
Then, after a night of sex and drugs, he leaves without even saying goodbye.
Yet, she had fallen madly in love with him and sets out - with her girlfriend
Vivian - on a trek across Europe to find him. On the way, Vicky gets catapulted
into one weird situation after another, with an array of characters, from
a gang of nasty bikers to sex-for-drugs in Amsterdam, to an LSD ring of
devil worshipers.
This
was Ingrid Steeger's first official film, and what an extraordinary debut!
She went on the make 80+ movies before officially retiring in 2006. Unfortunately,
by the mid '70s, her career drifted into a steady diet of German Schoolgirl
Report films and erotic documentaries. She never fully reached the
potential as promised by this movie.
