The First Legendary Cult Film to Mix Sex with Horror
Original
French Title: LA ROSE ECORCHEE
director: Claude Mulot
starring: Philippe Lemaire · Anny Duperey · Elizabeth
Teissier · Howard Vernon
When
his new bride's face is hideously disfigured in a fire, a famous artist
becomes obsessed with restoring her beauty. He seeks out and finds a
notorious plastic surgeon who is on the run from the authorities. Using
a remote castle as a base, the two hunt down and imprison a series of
young girls whose skin is used in experiments aimed at restoring the
face of the disfigured wife.
Claude
Mulot specialized in both soft and hardcore adult films (his XXX stuff
was usually signed as Frederic Lansac) but he occasionally dabbled in
other genres with various degrees of success. BLOOD ROSE
was an earlier horror film that found International distribution, promoted
as "the First Sex-Horror film ever made"). One of his later
projects THE
IMMORAL ONE (1980) also found a cash bonanza at the International
boxoffice. Mr Mulot died October 1982 at age 44 after accidentally drowning
in Saint Tropez.
