This
film is loosely based on the legend of countess Elizabeth Bathory, the
world's most famous serial killer [some say vampire]. Historically,
she murdered over 650 young women and bathed in their blood. Numerous
other films have tackled the same characterization, from DAUGHTERS
OF DARKNESS to LEGEND
OF BLOOD CASTLE to Paul Naschy's CURSE
OF THE DEVIL, etc. This time, filmmaker Simandl has three
female students visiting Bathory's Castle in Slovakia where they hope
to gather information on the Medieval vampire countess for their school
term paper. After reading from an old book, the girls are whisked back
in time where they become victims of Countess Bathory and her vampire
clan in her evil torture chamber.

Lloyd A Simandl specializes in Women-in-Peril exploitation motion pictures
which he calls 'Bound Heat' films (like SLAVE
TO LOVE, CRIES
OF INNOCENCE, WHITE
SLAVE LOVERS, et al). His movies are essentially interchangeable;
the plots most always include beautiful women imprisoned, raped, disciplined
and usually sold into slavery. Nobody has reached Mr Simandl's level
of competence for this type of production. Since his first film, AUTUMN
BORN with Dorothy Stratten in 1979, he has made 50+ motion pictures,
all lensed in his native Prague Czech Republic. His productions look
great and capture the essence of this genre.
