Here
is the debut feature film for Dorothy Stratten [the August 1977 Playboy
Playmate, tragically murdered by her possessive husband in August 1980
at age 20]. She stars as Tara, a spoiled rich girl who goes on a $2000
shopping spree to celebrate her 17th birthday. Her uncle - now the head
of deceased daddy's investment company - is furious with Tara for two
reasons: first, he's responsible for the clothing bill; but, more importantly,
he knows that Tara, upon her 18th birthday, will gain a seat with the
company's board of directors. And that could mean financial disaster.
So Uncle Grant schemes a plan to control Tara. He hires a dominitrix
named Victoria to kidnap his niece and introduce her to the school of
discipline. Through relentless torture sessions, Uncle Grant hopes Tara
will sign her shares over to him before her 18th birthday.
As
mentioned previously, this Canadian production is the debut feature
film for Dorothy Stratten. But it is also the debut for filmmaker Lloyd
Simandl. He learned well from this project. And for the next 40 years,
Mr Simandl would essentially remake the same film with different actresses
in the lead roles. He calls these kind of movies "Bound Heat"
films and they usually consist of a plot which features a naive girl
(or collection of girls) kidnapped by a dominitrix (from a variety of
hierarchy positions including corrupt government, the military, the
prison system, drug traffickers, slave traders, an alien planet or even
vampire sect). After making AUTUMN BORN, Simandl
left his Canadian home and relocated in his native Prague Czech Republic.
All of his 50+ films were shot there, in English. His most popular films
