director: Rene Cardona
starring: Hugo Stiglitz · Norma Lazareno · Carlos Camara
· Luiz Maria Aguilar · Fernando Larranaga
Based
on the real-life event, here is a harrowing adventure story of plane-crash
survivors who fed on bodies of the dead passengers to stay alive. The
film opens as an airplane crashes high in the Andes mountains of South
America. The surviving passengers, including a team of soccer players,
fight for life but soon realize that no rescue is in sight. They must
do whatever it takes to live.
Legendary
Mexican exploitation director Rene Cardona (of numerous SANTO films,
plus WRESTLING
WOMEN VS THE AZTEC MUMMY and LA
HORRIPILANTE BESTIA HUMANA) downplays the schlock here and delivers
an epic adventure story [with some grisly moments]. Cardona was the
grandmaster of Mexican Grindhouse entertainment, making 145 films between
1925-82. He is the father of director Rene Cardona Jr and the grandfather
of Al Castor (Rene Cardona III). Mr Cardona died from cancer in April
1988 at age 82.
