Here's
an obscure Italian thriller (yes, with a misspelled TRHAUMA
English title) from Gianni Martucci, a man better known for his scriptwriting
work. For example, under the name G A Martucci he wrote Al Brescia's
NUDE
GIRL FOUND DEAD IN THE PARK. After making TRHAUMA in 1980 (also
known as IL MISTERO DELLA CASA MALEDETTA (Mystery of the Cursed House),
Gianni befriended filmmaker Lucio Fulci who agreed to produce the
nasty Templar tale THE RED MONKS in 1988. That would be his final film
as he has - instead - been helping control Fulci's estate after the
gore master's death.
This
film should be better known. It contains all the right elements for
cult exploitation appreciation. The story deals with a group of people
spending the weekend at the home of Carlo and Silvia. One by one, they
start disappearing. There's no secret over who's doing the killing,
but there is a nice giallo twist behind the 'WHY.' Lots of gratuitous
nudity and brutal machete hacking fill the frames. Plus - as this is
the fully uncut print - there's a shocking bit of perversity when the
maniac kills pretty Olga and then rapes her dead corpse.
An
Italian production with English subtitles; original fullscreen format,
totally uncut version (78 min.), DVD encoded for ALL REGION NTSC, playable
on any American machine. Extras include theatrical trailers.
