Very
few Italian Giallos (thrillers) are lensed outside the typical urban
setting. This one and TROPIC
OF CANCER seem to be the only two that worked. Here, most of
the action happens in Kenya and a safari acts as the benchmark for the
reveal. Regarding the plot, Tony's brother has been killed and his widow,
Leslie (Erika Blanc), asks for his help to find the murderer. Their
investigation leads them into dangerous and very sleazy territory.
Bitto
Albertini started in the Italian film industry as a cinematographer
in 1948. He helmed his first film in 1967 and went on to direct 40 more
between 1967-1985. His resume includes thrillers, SciFi, Spaghetti Westerns
and action flicks. But he is best remembered for the film which introduced
Laura Gemser to stardom, BLACK
EMANUELLE. Over the years, Bitto used numerous pseudonyms including
Al Albert, Albert J Walker and Ben Norman. Mr Albertini died from a
heart attack in February of 1999. He was 74 years old.
