This
film (also known as FLOWER AND SNAKE: ZERO [REBOOT]) is 2014's entry
in Oniroku Dan's wildly popular S&M franchise, a series that began
with Naomi Tani in the lead role, FLOWER
AND SNAKE 1974. In reality, this is the 9th official film (not
counting the anime series) inspired by Dan's erotic book. In many ways,
this one may be the most satisfying of them all because it succeeds
on so many levels. Maiko Amano plays Tokyo police detective Misaki,
investigating an illegal S&M website which features abducted young
women. She goes undercover as a sex slave but soon finds herself bound,
tortured and fighting for her life.
Director
Hajime Hashimoto had specialized in crime movies before helming this
project. And, although he is most diligent in his zeal to deliver S&M
eroticism, he also brings a welcomed air of action to the production.
For example, when was the last time you saw a naked heroine pull a gun
hidden in her snatch? It happens here (see below right).
A Japanese
production; widescreen (16:9), totally uncut version (113 min.), in Japanese
language with English subtitles, DVD encoded for ALL REGION NTSC, playable
on any American machine. Extras include theatrical trailers.
