Director José Bénazéraf pushes the Genre into Madness

director: Jose Benazeraf
starring:Michel Lemaine ˇ Janine Reynaud ˇ Elizabeth Tessier ˇ Pamela Stanford ˇ Jose Benazeraf

Director José Bénazéraf was born in Casablanca, Morocco. He moved to France some years later and became involved in the motion picture business, initially as a writer. He began directing his own projects in the early sixties, finding success with arthouse erotica (e.g., SEXUS in 1965). Internationally, he was praised as "the new Goddard" and critics anxiously reviewed his cutting-edge projects. Mr Benazeraf fell out of favor in the late '60s when the new cinematic sexual freedom allowed him to experiment in more (uncomfortable) depth. His projects turned decidely bizarre as he concentrated mostly on fringe sexuality. After almost 100 movies, he retired from the industry in 1999. Mr Benazeraf died in December 2012 at age 90.

For this film - probably José Bénazéraf's most notorious - he tells the story of a doctor, his wife and her sister who all live together in a remote house in a snowy landscape. The sister (played by Jess Franco regular Janine Reynaud) is a psychologically damaged woman with deep-rooted sex issues. She begins having erotic fantasies involving her sister and brother-in-law. These fantasies become wildly sadomasochistic as her madness grows.

A French film in English language; fullscreen format, uncut version (86 min.), DVD encoded for ALL REGION NTSC WORLD FORMAT, playable on any American machine. Extras include trailers.
