Here
is a pivotal film - a very important and highly controversial film - which
successfully blended European arthouse cinema with grindhouse exploitation.
It is also significant as the most famous film directed by Eriprando Visconti,
the nephew of legendary director Luchino Viconti. Despite International
praise for Visconti's work, his films - including this one - remain virtually
unavailable in the United States. Mr Visconti died of Emphysema in May
1995, at age 62.
