In America (circa
mid '70s), this film had a limited run in the Grindhouse / Drive-In theaters
under the NAKED SEVEN title. It's an obvious tongue-in-cheek
homage to Kurosawa's SEVEN
SAMURAI with seven Japanese beauties in a comparative freedom-fighting
story. In Japan it was not only appreciated as a cockeyed homage, but
also as a loosely based sequel to director Hasebe's 'Alleycat Rock' series
which followed the exploits of a female gang in contemporary times.
Set in Japan's Sengoku
Era, a gang of female mercenaries
are on a mission to deliver a sacred scroll to a lord in a distant empire.
Enroute they decide to help a peasant village ravaged by thieves.
