It’s a zombie
apocalypse in an arid region of Argentina. Ana, Jonathan and Axel form
a trio of survivors holed up in a makeshift fortress and entangled in
an increasingly awkward love triangle. They monitor the outside via a
set of microphones positioned around the property. There are loudspeakers
seemingly present in every room of the house, filling their days and nights
with the sounds of wind, insects and howling dogs. And, once in a while,
the menacing zombies.
Here character,
rather than creature, is key – and as though to underline
the film’s refusal to deliver on straightforward genre thrills, frustration
and disappointment are the prominent themes. Yet it is this, that make
"THE DESERT" such a unique venture within the zombie genre.

Argentinean film in Spanish language with optional English subtitles;
original widescreen format (16:9), totally uncut version at 100 minutes,
encoded for REGION ONE NTSC, playable on any American machine.
