Pop star
Fabian (Forte) enjoyed numerous Top Ten hits in the early '60s, including
TIGER, HOUND DOG MAN and (his biggest) TURN ME LOOSE before parlaying
his success into an acting career. Throughout the sixties and early seventies,
Fabian starred in numerous films (NORTH TO ALASKA, LONGEST DAY and a variety
of Beach and Biker movies) before running out of steam. He attempted -
unsuccessfully - to kickstart his career by appearing nude in a '73 issue
of PLAYGIRL magazine. In 1980, Mexican director Alfredo Crevenna persuaded
him to take the role of Dracula for this south-of-the-border horror production.
Lord
Duke Orloff, a Satanist and vampire, is sentenced to death by the Holy
Inquisition in 1595. Orloff's female disciple, makes a pact with Satan
to reunite them in three centuries. Now, three hundred years later, wealthy
Madame Kostoff arrives in Mexico with with her belongings (which include
a mysterious coffin). She rents a large mansion in the countryside where
she and Dracula (yes, from the forementioned coffin) set about their objective
of resurrecting Duke Orloff.
