Sergio
Martino's Story of Superstitious Natives, a Killer Alligator
and a Resort of Rich Tourists in a Mess of Trouble original Italian title: "Il Fiume Degrande
Caimano"
director:
Sergio Martino
starring: Barbara Bach · Claudio Cassinelli · Mel Ferrer · Romano Puppo
· Lory Del Santo
A tourist resort in
Africa finds itself at the mercy of a huge man-eating alligator. Seemingly,
this creature is the incarnation of a native god angered by the intrusion
of western profiteers. It's the grand opening of a new extravagant hotel
and rich tourists suddenly find themselves in extreme danger. After a
few natives get killed and eaten by the GatorGod, the savages naturally
blame the influx of tourists who become the targets for both the natives
and the killer alligator.
Legendary Italian
cult director
Sergio Martino shot this film back-to-back with ISLAND
OF THE FISHMEN on the island of Sri Lanka. Both films manage to
deliver the goods far beyond the meager melodramatic roots.
