Abducted from their
homelands and enslaved by Romans, two young women (the Nubian Mamawi and
Bodicia from the Brittany, along with other female slaves) are purchased
by the owner of an arena. Initially they are assigned to domestic work
and forced to become sex slaves to the gladiators. However, after a catfight
at the dinner table, the owner gets the idea of using female gladiators
to rekindle waning interest by the public in his arena entertainment.
There's nothing like fighting divas to excite the bloodthirsty audiences.
This rare Roger Corman-produced
actioner from the mid-seventies was directed in Italy by American Steve
Carver. Cult exploitation filmmaker Joe D'Amato (Aristide Massaccesi)
served as his assistant director.
