director Umberto Lenzi is best known for his revolutionary jungle cannibal
movies EATEN
ALIVE BY CANNIBALS, DEEP
RIVER SAVAGES and CANNIBAL
FERROX, but those films don't reduce the significance of this
mean-spirited, dark thriller from his mid-90's period. Produced by legendary
Joe D'Amato, this is a contemporary giallo shot in English Language in
the United States.
The story deals with a disturbed young man named Mark who is traveling
the Virginia Beach coastline picking up female hitchhikers in his RV camper.
Mark
has serious mama problems. After capturing young women, he forces them
to take on the role of his dead mother, demanding a twisted sexual performance
from them. When they inevitably don't satisfy his mania, Mark tortures,
rapes and kills the girls. On to this scene comes a young runaway (played
by the exquisite Josie Bissett). The terror begins.
An
Italian/American co-production; widescreen, totally uncut version (90
min.), in English language, DVD encoded for REGION ONE, playable on any
American machine. Extras include interview with Umberto Lenzi and various
trailers.
