director:
Paolo Cavara
starring: Corinne Clery · Michele Placido · Eli Wallach · Tom Skerritt
· Sara Crespi
During his career,
filmmaker Paolo Cavara concentrated mostly on Mondo Pictures, responsible
for MONDO
CANE, WOMEN
OF THE WORLD and GOODBYE
UNCLE TOM (et al). He directed only two giallos (the name for
Italian thrillers), the much-heraldedBLACK
BELLY OF THE TARANTULA and this (virtually lost) masterpiece.
This sleazy film opens as a man is strangled in his home by a female prostitute.
At the same time, a woman gets killed by a man on an empty bus. The police
soon discover a connection: in both cases the killer has left an illustration
from a children's book titled "Shockheaded Peter." An
investigation leads a detective to an exclusive - yet sexually perverse
- club called Wildlife's Friends.
An

and an interview with the late director's son.
